Food Allergies and Travel Abroad

I like free stuff.

Anyone traveling in another country with food allergies should know about food allergy cards. Allerglobal lets you create your own personalized card. For free. Simply check off the allergens from the list and choose from over 25 different languages.

Even if you're not traveling, it's pretty cool to learn how to say or read your allergens in common languages. "Amendoim" is "peanut" in Portuguese.

Go ahead, play around with it!

This is a fun idea. I think it is a good addition or back-up plan. It's hard because I usually have to quiz waiters 18 different ways - saying my son is allergic to wheat isn't enough...have to make sure they realize he can't have anything breaded, nothing in the frier with other stuff that is breaded, no same oil from another day, not cooked on grill near buns or breaded things, etc. so the whole idea of foreign language travel is overwhelming!
